My Practice
I mainly work in wheel-thrown porcelain. My pieces explore the contrast between the silky, pure quality of porcelain and more earthy decorations, with many designs featuring the landscapes, wildlife, and stories of the United Kingdom.
Natural History and Inspiration
I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world. You don’t have to be in a tropical rainforest to experience beauty, drama, and incredible wildlife stories, and I particularly enjoy celebrating these through my work.
Moss, lichen, weathered stone, woodland floors, and native species all find their way into my ceramics. I’m especially drawn to the quieter details that are often overlooked and enjoy finding ways to recreate them in clay, glaze, and paint.
Every piece is individually thrown and finished by hand, making each one entirely unique. Whether I’m creating a porcelain vessel with delicate moss detailing or exploring a new idea inspired by the Yorkshire landscape, my aim is always to encourage people to look a little closer at the world around them.
Study and Background
I’m currently studying Ceramics at York College of Art and previously studied Biology at the University of Bristol. I live and work in York, where I continue to develop my practice through study, experimentation, and an enduring curiosity about the natural world.
Sustainability
I am committed to sourcing materials as sustainably as possible. I never collect moss, lichen, or wildlife specimens—instead, I prefer to make or paint them myself.
